My experience spans over 20 years working with children, adolescents and adults providing social services, psychotherapy and education. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from San Diego State University and a Master of Social Work degree from California State University, Los Angeles. I have successfully treated clients of all ages from many different ethnic, cultural, sexual- orientation, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I have worked with those who suffer from depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, and disruptive, impulse control and conduct disorders. Also, I treat other mental and behavioral health challenges such as low-self esteem, complicated bereavement, self-harm, social limitations, outbursts of aggression and race-based traumatic stress. Much of my experience has been focused on helping individuals who have experienced traumatic, confusing, and/or stressful life events, such as physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse, abandonment, neglect, the death of a loved one, and relationship issues. I have provided these services in agency settings and on university campuses as well as through private practice. I have managed and clinically supervised clinical and MSW interns, taught as a professor at several universities in the social work, psychology, early childhood education and child development departments, and served as a subject matter expert for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
My goal is for Proverbs Counseling Services to work with you to help you identify your desires and empower you to make those positive changes in your life. I understand that making the decision to seek help can be difficult, so we use an approach that is compassionate and non-judgemental to help create an environment where you feel supported in your counseling journey.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and my Master of Social Welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles. My professional journey is driven by a deep respect for each person’s unique story and the belief that everyone possesses the innate strength to heal and thrive.
With over a decade of experience, ranging from high-intensity crisis intervention with the Department of Children and Family Services to school-based mental health and adult telehealth, I operate from the core conviction that you are the absolute expert on your own life. My role is not to dictate who you should be, but to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively explore your goals.
As a generalist practitioner, my approach is integrative and tailored to each individual's unique needs. My practice centers on supporting children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and significant life transitions. Whether assisting a student with social-emotional self-management, supporting a young adult establishing independence, or guiding an adult through a difficult life pivot, my work is consistently Person-Centered and Strengths-Based. I leverage Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and other evidence-based practices to help clients move from feeling stuck to feeling empowered. I focus heavily on advocacy and self-management, helping you build a practical toolkit to navigate your environment with confidence and authenticity. I believe that seeking support is an act of immense courage, and I am honored to walk alongside you as you rediscover your resilience and reclaim your inner power.
When I am not practicing, I prioritize the same balance I encourage in my clients. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and pets, and I often recharge by getting lost in a favorite show. Honoring our need for joy and connection allows us to show up more fully for ourselves and others.
